Local Missions Collections – Winter, 2011
One of our most popular and most-often-accessed local missions is our collection of personal care items that we make available to those that come to us in need. Throughout the months of January and February we collect things like toilet paper, toothpaste, laundry soap, shampoo, razors and cleaning supplies. Each week has a different item assigned to it, and folks bring that item to church with them. We take the stuff downstairs, stock the shelves on the stage, and wait for those lovingly donated items to find a home.
Here’s the schedule for this winter:
Jan 16 – Toilet paper
Jan 23 – Shampoo and conditioner
Jan 30 – Paper towels
Feb 6 – Toothpaste and toothbrushes
Feb 13 – Personal care items (razors, deodorant, lotions, feminine hygiene products, hair styling products, etc.)
Feb 20 – Laundry detergent
Feb 27 – Cleaning supplies
Of course, any of those things are welcome at any time, not just on those weeks. And if you’d like to donate any of the above items, but can’t get to church, give us a call and we’ll come get them – 667-5966.
