OUR MARCH MISSION

HANCOCK COUNTY FOOD DRIVE

April 1 – April 30, 2023

Nearly 1 in 10 households in Maine have food insecurity.  They lack access to nutritious and healthy food. 1 in 5 Maine children do not get enough food to eat, causing lifelong impacts on educational outcomes, physical, mental and emotional well-being.

The 12th Annual Hancock County Food Drive will take place from April 1 – April 30, 2023.

The Hancock County Food Drive is an annual food collection and fundraising project which directly supports food pantries, free meal programs, and school backpack programs across Hancock County – providing 120,000 meals to Hancock County community members.  This year, a goal of $50,000 has been set for local food assistance programs.

Donations may be made by writing a check, and/or bringing in food donations. Please make your checks out to the Ellsworth United Methodist Church. Checks may be put into the collection plate at Church, or mailed to Ellsworth United Methodist Church, P.O.Box 276, Ellsworth, Maine  04605. Our Church Treasurer will for ward all monies collected to Healthy Acadia, the sponsors of the Food Drive.  100% of all money donations/checks will be used to purchase food – there are no processing fees!

Please note that direct monetary donations go much further, because Hancock County Food Drive workers purchase food at a highly discounted rate.

We are also gladly accepting canned goods and non perishable items at the Church.
